     i.    Jute applications:

     i.    Jute sacks: for onion, potato, corn packaging.

    ii.    It is estimated that New Zealand uses 1 billion plastic bags each year (230 bags per person). Free plastic bags are being taxed (10-cent surcharge per plastic bag) in New Zealand. So, the requirement of jute bags is near about 1 billion.

     i.    New Zealand imported jute products from Bangladesh: NZ$3.2m (11.5%) in 2010.

    ii.    The Government of New Zealand devoted USD 8,000 for the successful implementation of IYNF 2009.

  iii.    History: New Zealand has spent many millions of pounds in the purchase of jute woolpacks, bags and sacks. During 1930- 1935, the expenditure for jute amounted to 530,000 for wool-packs and 1,580,000 for bags and sacks.
